Name, nicknames, anything:

    Tegan Anne Radley

Age, rank:

    28
    Civilian archeologist

Describe your character's appearance. Include eye colour, hair colour, height, build, and anything extra:

    Eyes: Dark brown
    Hair: Medium brown curls that fall just below her shoulders
    Height: 5’ 6”
    Weight: 145

Character play-by (Actor/actress that portrays your character)

    Emmy Rossum

Likes/Dislikes, at least three each.

    Likes:
  • Thai food
  • The smell of new books
  • Irises
    Dislikes:
  • High heels
  • Running
  • Dusting

Skills, at least three.

  • Speaks and reads several different languages
  • Can curl up in a tiny ball to avoid being hit by staff blasts
  • Makes a mean chicken parmesan

Strengths/Weaknesses, at least three each.

    Strengths:
  • Approachable
  • Kind
  • Picks up local dialects and language variations fairly easily
    Weaknesses:
  • Messy; disorganized
  • Easily distracted
  • Perhaps a bit naïve for her own good

At least three important events in your character's life and why it matters.

  • The end of her almost two year relationship with Chris, an engineer working at Area 51, which led to her transfer from Area 51 to Cheyenne Mountain
  • Her father’s love of dead languages and single minded obsession with a piece of Gou'ald writing he found on a dig led to the inevitable end of his marriage and teaching career, but sparked Tegan’s passion and interest in the ancient past.
  • The headgear she wore through most of high school that kept her focus on her studies and not the male population.

Main goal:

    Umm…don’t die? Also trying to better understand the origins of humankind. Likely in that order.

Greatest fear:

    Dying ranks right up there.

What does your character not like about themselves? At least three things.

  • Inability to defend herself properly
  • Her forgetfulness
  • Her hair frizzes when it rains

Why was your character chosen for the Stargate program? (Include any skills that would be part of the reason.)

    Her extensive knowledge of ancient Egypt and dead languages led to her working at Area 51 for the past two years. Her work at Area 51 (and the aforementioned break up) led to her applying for and eventually receiving a transfer to Cheyenne.

Describe your character's personality, at least one hundred words.

    Tegan is very much a glass half full kind of girl. She finds the upside in most situations and when one can’t be found, often cracks bad jokes. She’s messy and unorganized in most areas of her life. Trying to find anything in her office requires a manhunt. She tends to towards an almost obsessive single mindedness when something sparks her interest.

    Combat and self-defense aren’t things Tegan is any good at. She’s trying to improve, but its slow going. The idea of shooting anyone –even in the name of self defense- is difficult for her, and her average size and strength mean she’d hardly be able to fend off a Jaffa or larger enemy in hand to hand combat.

Your character's history, at least 300 words.

    Tegan was born the youngest child of two college professors.

    The summer Tegan turned six, her father spent several weeks on a dig site in Egypt. He returned before the beginning of fall classes with a small fragment of pottery with writing unlike anything he’d seen before. It didn’t take long for his fascination to grow into a full blown obsession. In just a few short years, his marriage crumbled, and his career suffered severely. More than that though, his children suffered from lack of attention.

    After a brief stint of teenage rebellion, Tegan’s older brother, Caleb, gave up trying to gain his father’s attention. Tegan however decided if she couldn’t beat him, she’d join him. The pair spent hours studying and researching together in his father’s neglected one bedroom apartment.
    A few months after Tegan graduated with her PhD in archeology, her father suffered a fatal heart attack and passed away. The funeral was short and bitter sweet.

    Days after the funeral, a man in Air Force blues showed up on her father’s doorstep and offered her a job translating at Area 51.

Roleplay sample (please use the character you're creating):

    "Mm, thanks." Tegan said as she straightened Elliot's tie. He looked quite dashing in his dark grey suit and blue & white tie. His red curls were styled with gel for once instead of falling haphazardly as they usually did.

    She gave the tie a gentle tug, and he smiled as he leaned down to kiss her. She sighed softly when their lips finally parted.

    "Okay, now I have to check the garden. Wanna come?" He nodded and offered his arm.

    ~~~~~~~~~~
    The rose garden was just a short way from the castle, and Elliot held the gate open for Tegan as they entered.
    Above their heads, strings of white lights spanned the garden. It was still early afternoon, so their light had no effect on the garden yet, but by the time the reception started, the garden would be bathed in their soft white glow.
    Roses of all colors were in bloom filling the air with a heady and sweet fragrance, and a fountain in the center of the garden offered the gentle sounds of running water.
    At the far end of the garden, a string quartet was beginning to set up to play music for dancing and the smell of food being prepared was wafting from the small pavilion's kitchen. The quiet murmurs of the wait staff could be heard as they bustled around setting up a few round tables with white table cloths and dishes.
    "What do you think?" Tegan asked quietly as they surveyed the area, arm in arm.
